In April this year, we invited a number of VIP guests along to a celebration evening at the Kidz R Us Theatre in St Ives. The aim of the evening was to increase support of the Theatre and to showcase the amazing talent and skills of the cast and crew.
The evening included advanced screenings of scenes from upcoming shows Mary Poppins and Bugsy Malone and solos from some of the older members of the cast and ex-cast members who attended the Theatre themselves when they were young. Guests were delighted with outstanding performances, clever comedic timing and stunning set changes.
The theatre recently had the opportunity to acquire ex-demo electronic back screens which would transform their set changes – minimising not only the time taken mid-performance to set up for a new scene, but also reduce the cost and volunteer time put into building the sets.
Guests were invited to take part in a Silent Auction for a wide range of prizes, from which over £900 was raised, helping to recover the costs of purchasing the back screens.
